Semi Private Personal Training is more than a group fitness class with fewer students in the room. We’ve combined the fun and camaraderie of group workouts with the customized programs of 1-on-1 Personal Training.

All classes are capped at 6 students, so each participant can get personal attention from the instructor. This setup also allows students to get to know each other and cheer each other on!

In addition to being experienced group fitness leaders, all of our instructors are also college educated, insured, and are certified as Personal Trainers. This means they’ve passed accredited national certification exams that are more rigorous than the typical Group Fitness certification.

Semi Private Personal Training students get the benefit of the combined expertise of several staff members, not just the instructor who will be leading their class. Before joining a class, all students attend a 1-on-1 session with the instructor where they receive an in-depth evaluation. Then one of our program design experts creates an individualized list of exercises for that particular student. In the class, students get to do some activities with the whole group, as well as some exercises from their personal list.

Some students choose to only do workouts with us; others opt for combination packages of Semi Private Training, Nutrition Coaching, and Massage Therapy. In that case, the trainer and therapist would coordinate to make all of that student’s sessions work together seamlessly.

Class times are by appointment only. Because we do not run our own studio, we are able to give you the choice of a variety of upscale studios throughout Manhattan where we rent space on an hourly basis. Because they are locally owned (not chains), they pay more attention to detail when choosing the best equipment and are significantly less crowded. One example is Fit Factory in Chelsea (153 W. 27th St. between 6th - 7th Ave., Suite 201).

If you’re wondering whether semi Private Training could be right for you, we invite you to a no-cost phone consultation with one of our trainers (typically 30 minutes to 1 hour). To make the call the best use of your time, we’ll ask you to fill out a health history and questionnaire, either online or on paper, a few days in advance. We will discuss your goals, your health history, class schedule and locations, pricing, and answer any questions you may have.

If by the end of the call you think this isn’t a match for your needs, we will be happy to refer you to another fitness program or to one of the outstanding doctors or physical therapists we know. On the other hand, if the phone consultation has left you curious to experience Semi Private Training, or excited to get started, we’ll get you into an introductory class. After the in-person class, you can let us know whether or not you’d like to sign up.

  7. Ongoing sessions
  8. Periodic reevaluations
